What is Indigo Michael Ltd?

Indigo Michael Ltd offers customers what’s called a ‘revolving’ line of credit. It’s supposed to avoid going overdrawn and then being fined for the pleasure. The business owns and runs SafetyNet which offers you a revolving line of credit.

In short, you get a line of credit which is set at a specific amount. Once you repay an initial line of credit, you get to ‘reopen’ your line of credit. The system also works by tracking your daily bank balance. Money is deposited into your account when it goes under an agreed amount.

The typical credit line offered is up to £500 which is supposed to cover your monthly expenses.

Indigo Michael Ltd also trades as Account Technologies and is regulated.

Is Indigo Michael a legitimate company?

Yes. Indigo Michael Ltd is a legitimate business regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The company is also registered with the Lending Standards Board (LSB).

Moreover, when you give Indigo Michael permission, they monitor all the details of your bank transactions!

That said, there have been a few complaints about Indigo Michael. Check out what happened to one person here:

Who does Indigo Michael Ltd collect for?

Chances are you had some dealings with SafetyNet if Indigo Michael Ltd contacts you. It’s worth noting they are not debt collectors or enforcement agents. Indigo Michael is a ‘creditor’.

As such, the company contacts you over money owed to them or through SafetyNet. In short, if you’ve had a revolving credit line, and things went wrong, Indigo Michael could contact you.

What powers does Indigo Michael have?

Indigo Michael could send aggressive, threatening letters over outstanding/missing payments. But they are not debt collectors or bailiffs which means they have limited powers.

That said, if you ignore their correspondence, you may find Indigo Michael escalates their payment demands. You could get a visit from a representative at your home.

Moreover, Indigo Michael could apply for a County Court Judgement (CCJ) to be levied against you. If they win a court case, enforcement agents could pay you a visit too!

Can Indigo Michael Ltd visit you at home?

Yes. Indigo Michael could visit you at home when you ignore any correspondence from them over outstanding payments. The same is true if you don’t agree to a proposed repayment plan.

That said, a representative from the company doesn’t have the power to:

  • Enter your home
  • Seize your possessions

However, if the case has gone to court and an order issued against you, bailiffs could pay you a visit. In this instance, you may have to deal with:

  • Being contacted by post, email, phone or in person
  • Having penalty charges and interest added to the outstanding amount
  • Dealing with a default notice being registered on your credit history
  • Coping with a CCJ on your credit record
  • Dealing with a petition of bankruptcy if the money owed is over £5,000

What laws does Indigo Michael Ltd have to follow?

There are laws that Indigo Michael Ltd must follow when they contact you over missing or outstanding payments.

I’ve listed them here so you know your rights, so Indigo Michael can’t:

  • Threaten or harass you in any way when a representative contacts you
  • Discuss the matter with third parties which breach your data protection rights
  • Use lots of jargon to confuse you and to infer their documents were issued by the courts
  • Coerce you in any way to pay a representative straight away without seeking debt advice and assessing your options

If you feel Indigo Michael has used unethical or unlawful tactics when they contacted you, lodge a complaint with the company. Then file a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Do you have to pay Indigo Michael?

When you genuinely owe money to Indigo Michael, you may have to pay the outstanding. That said, you should negotiate a good repayment plan with the company.

If you’re confused or unsure what to do, seek advice from an independent debt charity first.

But you may find the amount outstanding could be statute barred which means it’s over six years old. Therefore, the debt can’t be enforced and a court won’t levy a CCJ against you!

Also, you may have paid the money owed or you’re convinced you don’t owe anything. If so, ask Indigo Michael to ‘prove’ the debt is yours! Send the letter to the company by registered post. Plus, keep a copy for your records.

How do you contact Indigo Michael Ltd?

You should seek independent and impartial advice from one of the debt charities if you are unsure or confused. Moreover, don’t sign, agree or pay anything until you’ve spoken to a debt adviser.

I’ve listed a few of the debt charities here:

“It will only get worse” 😩

It’s cliché to say, but with debt it’s true; the longer you leave it, the worse the problem gets

There are straightforward and effective ways to deal with debt, but you have to know your options.

Fill out the short form to find out about the debt solutions that could reduce your monthly payments or even write off some of your debt.

Lastly, do I have to pay Indigo Michael Ltd debt or not?

The one thing not to do is ignore correspondence from Indigo Michael over missed or outstanding payments. Things can quickly escalate and you could find a CCJ on your credit history.

Moreover, the original amount would increase making it harder to pay off!

There could be a genuine reason for not paying Indigo Michael which includes the debt not being yours, or it’s statute barred!

However, it’s best to negotiate an affordable and reasonable repayment plan with Indigo Michael if the debt is genuinely yours. But seek advice from a reputable independent debt charity first!
