We know how scary it can be to get a parking fine; some of us have been there too. But don’t worry; we’re here to answer your questions and help you understand what to do when you get a parking ticket from Armtrac Security.

Let’s get started!

Do You Have to Pay?

In some circumstances, you might have a legitimate reason not to pay your fine.

It’s a bit sneaky, but the last time I needed legal advice, I paid £5 for a trial to chat with an online solicitor called JustAnswer.

Not only did I save £50 on solicitor feeds, I also won my case and didn’t have to pay my £271 fine.

How to avoid paying Armtrac Security parking tickets

If you want to avoid paying a Armtrac Security parking ticket then you’ll need an airtight appeal.

The best way to perfect your appeal is getting a little advice from a Solicitor. I’d 100% recommend spending a fiver to get a trial of JustAnswer.

Should you pay or challenge an Amtrac Security fine?

Amtrac Security has a reputation for rejecting appeals against parking charges. But this should not stop you from challenging a fine. On the contrary, you gain time when you appeal, which is worth considering.

Plus, when you challenge the fine within two weeks, and the operator rejects it, you still get to pay 40% less!

However, you should consider paying the fine if you think the parking charge is justified and the operator correctly served it. Paying a parking charge within 14 days means the operator discounts the fine by 40%.

I hope the information in my post helps you decide if it’s worth appealing an Amtrac Security fine. Or if it’d be better to pay the parking charge and just move on!

How do you appeal an Amtrac Security fine?

There’s a deadline for appealing an Amtrac Security fine. Moreover, you must send the operator an email within 28 days. Any later, and you lose the right to dispute the parking charge.

The operator’s website doesn’t provide an option to appeal a parking charge online! Plus, Amtrac Services have received a ton of negative reviews on TrustPilot for rejecting appeals.

On the upside, when you appeal a parking charge, the operator must place things on hold. So, Amtrac Security can’t do anything until they decide to uphold or reject your appeal!

I suggest appealing an Amtrac Security fine within fourteen days. Then, the operator can’t chase you for payment. Plus, you should pay the discounted fine if your appeal is rejected!

What is the best excuse to appeal a parking ticket?

You could appeal an Amtrac Security fine because you:

  • Parked correctly
  • Paid the right fee
  • Couldn’t pay because the payment machines were out of order
  • Found the parking charge was excessive
  • Didn’t own the vehicle at the time the fine was issued
  • Weren’t the driver when the parking charge was served
  • Had broken down
  • Couldn’t return to your vehicle because of an emergency
  • We’re just out of time, and therefore you weren’t given a ‘grace period’ by the operator
  • The fine arrived through the mail over two weeks after the alleged parking infringement took place

What is a grace period?

All car park management companies must allow a ten-minute grace period before issuing you a fine. If the parking charge is issued before the ten minutes are up, the operator should cancel the charge!

Getting the support of a Solicitor can take a huge weight off your mind.

What happens when Amtrac Security rejects an appeal?

Amtrac Security sends you a letter of rejection. The letter must contain the following information:

  • How to pay the parking charge within a set timeframe. Also, you’d have to pay the full fine
  • How to escalate your appeal to the Independent Appeals Service (IAS)

The IAS is an Alternative Dispute Resolution service that’s free of charge. However, Amtrac Security must agree to this option when they reject your appeal.

That said, you could contact the Ombudsman Service if the operator disagrees!

Should you provide evidence when appealing an Amtrac Security fine?

Yes. You should try to provide as much evidence as possible. Especially as Amtrac Security has a reputation for rejecting appeals. So, I suggest you gather the following to support your challenge:

  • Photos of the parking charge you received, the payment machines, where you parked, all signs and road markings
  • Proof your vehicle broke down, which could be an invoice from a garage or tow truck
  • Witness statements if anyone can corroborate your appeal against the parking charge

Could you get a County Court Judgement for an Amtrac Security fine?

No. You can’t get a CCJ for the parking charge itself. But, if Amtrac Security takes you to court and wins, the fine becomes enforceable. Why? Because the court orders you to pay the fine!

The CCJ will be recorded on your credit history if the parking charge remains unpaid. It would negatively impact your ability to get a loan, credit card or mortgage! So, my advice? Never ignore a parking charge notice even when you feel the operator got it wrong.

It’s far better to either pay the fine within fourteen days, so you pay 40% less. But only if you’re happy the fine is yours and that it’s correct. Otherwise, you should appeal the parking charge within fourteen days to stop the operator from chasing you. Until Amtrac Security decides whether to accept or reject your appeal, that is!

But don’t ignore a parking charge notice because it could get expensive!

Hire a Parking Solicitor for less than a coffee.

Getting the support of a Solicitor can make your appeal much more likely to win.
