Why should you close your Very Account?

If you’re struggling to keep on top of any debts to Very or pay household bills, you may want to close your account. Like this, the temptation to buy anything is taken off the table.

You may think that not using your account and simply leaving it dormant is the easiest solution. However, the temptation to buy something is still there. Especially as Very will send you lots of emails about their latest ‘offers’ and ‘deals’.

Will closing my very account affect my credit score?

You may notice a slight decrease in your credit score when you close a Very account. But it’s not something you should worry about because it’s absolutely normal for your score to go down a little.

How do you close a Very account?

There are two ways to close a Very account if you really want to stop using the online retailer.

You can:

  • Deactivate your account by signing into My Account on the Very website
  • Write to Very and request that the online retailer closes it

How a debt solution could help

Some debt solutions can:

  1. Stop nasty calls from creditors
  2. Freeze interest and charges
  3. Reduce your monthly

A few debt solutions can even result in writing off some of your debt.

Here’s an example:

Situation

Monthly income £2,504
Monthly expenses £2,345
Total debt £32,049

Monthly debt repayments

Before £587
After £158

£429 reduction in monthly payments

Are there any pros to closing a Very.co.uk account?

Yes. There are several advantages to closing a Very account which I’ve listed below:

  • You’ve found it too easy to fall into debt
  • You’re tired of receiving emails from Very.co.uk telling you about their online deals, offers and what’s on ‘sale’. All of which is too tempting!
  • You opted for the Buy Now Pay Later or the monthly payment plan which caused you to go into debt

Should you just leave a Very account dormant?

You may have considered not closing your Very account, and instead leaving it dormant. After all, having the account could come in handy.

Very would still send you emails for items that are on offer. Plus, you’d still receive coupons!

You’d need to think carefully about leaving a Very account active, especially if you’re already struggling to pay bills and other payments!

The temptation to buy something might just be too much and could make your financial situation worse!

How do you cancel a Very Direct Debit?

You can cancel a Direct Debit you set to Very by going into the Payments Tab in your My Very Account. Just click on the Direct Debit and select the ‘cancel’ tab.

However, you should also cancel the DD with your bank or building society too!

Just make sure you don’t close your Very account before cancelling a Direct Debit to the online retailer. Otherwise, you may find the DD goes out as per usual!

How do you close your Very Account online?

If you choose to close your Very account online via your My Account, the process is as follows:

  • Log into your Very account as you normally do
  • Go to Account Settings and start a conversation with the ‘Very Assistant’ in the chatbot option
  • Ask the Very Assistant to ‘delete my very account’. The message is then forwarded to a Very Assistant
  • The Very Assistant will get back to you and ask you for proof the account is yours which typically involves a few security questions
  • Once your profile is confirmed, the Very Assistant will delete/close your account

The Very Team should remove your account and details from their database.

However, when you close a Very.co.uk, make sure you follow their procedure to the letter! Otherwise, you might have the same problems as this poor customer!

Are you in debt and want to close your Very account?

You could want to close a Very account because you’re finding it hard to stay on top of the repayments. If so, you should seek an independent debt adviser when you’re in ‘persistent debt’ with the online retailer!

For example, you could get free debt advice from one of the UK’s charities. I’ve listed three of the leading charities below:

How do you contact Very.co.uk?

I’ve listed ways you can contact Very.co.uk in the table below:

Lastly, how to close your Very account so it’s stress-free?

If you’re thinking about closing your Very.co.uk account, you’re definitely not alone. Lots of people have fallen into debt thanks to the Buy Now Pay Later option the online retailer offers.

Maybe your personal circumstances changed and you’re struggling with your finances. Or maybe, you’re fed up with receiving lots of emails tempting you to buy items on ‘offer’!

Whatever the reason, closing a Very account should be stress-free although some people find it’s not as straightforward as the Very Team makes out!

In short, you may have to be a little persistent when you contact the Very Team and ask them to close your account!

Thanks for reading this post. I hope the information helps you close your account with Very in the most stress-free way possible.
