Who is CDER Group Debt?
CDER Group Debt Collection provides enforcement services to recover unpaid debts which have a court order attached to them. According to their ‘About Us’ page, the business has recovered more than £250 million to date.
The debts recovered include council tax arrears, road fines and High Court debts to name but three.
CDER Group employs Enforcement Agents (bailiffs) to enforce court orders and will add fees to the unpaid debt. In short, an original debt suddenly becomes a lot more when CDER gets involved in the recovery!
Today, CDER Group consists of three other businesses which are JBW, Collect Services and Phoenix.
Is CDER Group a legitimate business?
Yes. CDER Group is a legitimate business that’s registered with Company House. So, when you get a letter from them, it’s because a court order’s been issued against a debtor!
Is CDER Group regulated?
Yes. CDER Group is highly regulated and must abide by the law when they contact you to recover an outstanding debt.
That said, you’ve got rights when Enforcement Agents contact you!
Can you lower your repayments?
If you’re struggling to pay back your debt, then you might qualify for a debt solution. Some solutions lower your monthly payments while others write off a portion of your debt.
To find out whether they could work in your situation, hit the button below.
Bailiffs (Enforcement Officers cannot seize any items used for ‘basic domestic needs’. This includes bedding, furniture, clothing and other needed equipment.
Enforcement Officers can force entry into your house when there’s a default on a payment plan and you signed a Controlled Goods Agreement (CGA). When you default and you sign a CGA, bailiffs can force entry and seize your possessions.
But they must get a locksmith to open the door.
Take a look at what happened to one person who contacted CDer:
Enforcement Agents (bailiffs) have the power to enforce writs and court orders. In short, they are allowed to visit your home address and ask you to pay the debt. They can repossess certain possessions which must be of equal value to the debt.
Bailiffs can gain access to your house if any doors are unlocked or open. However, they cannot legally force entry by breaking any door locks. Neither can a bailiff manhandle you!
Moreover, a bailiff can’t climb through a window. That said, it’s better to keep windows shut!
What is a CDER Group Notice of Enforcement?
CDER Group sends you a Notice of Enforcement which you shouldn’t ignore. The notice gives you two options which are:
Pay what’s owed
Contact CDER to set up a payment plan (short-term)
An Enforcement Agent will visit your home if you don’t respond. Moreover, a fee of £75 is added to the debt!
Should you pay CDER Group?
If you can, try to pay CDER Group when they send you a Notice of Enforcement. Why? Because it stops them from adding more fees and prevents them from visiting you at home.
If you can’t afford to pay the full amount, contact CDER sooner rather than later and negotiate a payment plan with them!
What happens when you don’t pay CDER Group?
Things get very expensive when you don’t pay CDER Group once they’ve contacted you and sent a Notice of Enforcement.
Their fees soon add up with £235 added to the debt.
Moreover, if Enforcement Agents seize your possessions, another £110 is added to the debt! The amount increases as more fees are added to an original debt.
No. You won’t have to let CDER enforcement agents into your house. You can talk to them from an upstairs window if possible or through a letterbox. Make sure the doors are locked!
How do you stop CDER Group enforcement agents?
You can stop CDER Group enforcement agents from contacting you by:
Paying the full amount owed
Agreeing to a short-term payment plan
Informing them you are a ‘vulnerable’ person
UK law prevents enforcement agents from visiting vulnerable people. This could include pregnant women, a person who doesn’t speak English, and single parents.
Lastly, is CDER Group legitimate or a scam? Can they force entry?
Yes. To recap, CDER Group is a legitimate business that’s highly regulated. Their enforcement agents, therefore, must follow the law when they contact you.
The only time a CDER bailiff can force entry into your home is when you defaulted on a payment plan and signed a Controlled Goods Agreement with them. But they cannot break down your door.
CDER enforcement agents must use a locksmith to gain entry into your home!
Thanks for reading my post about CDER Group. I hope the information provided helps you deal with an enforcement agent so the outcome is positive and a lot less stressful!
