g24 parking fine appeal

Have you been given a G24 parking fine? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Each month, over 32,000 people come to this site for advice on tickets and fines. This can be a confusing and stressful time, but we’re here to help.

In this article, we’ll explain:

  • Who G24 is and why you might get a parking fine from them.
  • How G24 serves parking charge notices.
  • How much a G24 parking fine can cost.
  • If you are legally required to pay a parking charge notice and if you need to pay it right away.
  • What happens when you appeal a G24 parking fine.

We have a team of experts who have offered guidance to many people in the same situation as you, so we understand how you feel and know the best steps to take next. Let’s start learning about G24 parking fines.

Do You Have to Pay?

In some circumstances, you might have a legitimate reason not to pay your fine.

It’s a bit sneaky, but the last time I needed legal advice, I paid £5 for a trial to chat with an online solicitor called JustAnswer.

Not only did I save £50 on solicitor feeds, I also won my case and didn’t have to pay my £271 fine.

Why would you get a g24 parking fine?

G24 could serve you with a Parking Charge Notice (not to be confused with a penalty charge notice) for a number of reasons.

I’ve listed several things that could get you fined by the operator below:

  • Not paying the correct fee to park on a site managed by G24
  • Overstaying the amount of time you paid for
  • Parking poorly, for example, you parked across two bays
  • Leaving a car in a bay that’s specifically designated for the disabled or families with very young children

How much does a g24 parking fine cost?

G24 could charge you up to £100 for not following their Terms & Conditions. That said, the more serious the infringement, the higher the fine. The same is true when it comes to location.

However, the government will place a lower cap on the amount a private operator can charge you. This is due to come into effect in 2023.

Do you need to pay a G24 parking fine right away?

Only pay a g24 parking fine right away when you deserve the ticket. Then, you could save time and money if you pay the parking charge within two weeks. Moreover, when you pay within this deadline, g24 reduces the amount you’ll have to pay.

In short, you could pay 40% less when you pay the parking charge right away!

However, you have 28 days to pay a parking charge notice. So it just means you won’t benefit from paying the reduced fine!

What happens when you appeal a G24 parking fine?

When you receive a G24 parking fine, you have every right to appeal the parking charge. Especially when you feel the parking charge is unfair or incorrect. That said, you must appeal the fine within a deadline of 28 days from the date of issue.

If you wait any longer to make an appeal, the fine could increase by 50%!

If I were you, I’d file my appeal against a g24 parking fine within 14 days. As such, even if it is rejected by the operator, you might be able to pay a discounted fine.

You must provide the following when you appeal the charge:

  • Your vehicle registration number – VRN
  • The parking charge number
  • Your reason for wanting the parking charge notice cancelled

What excuse could you use to challenge a G24 parking fine?

You may have a genuine reason for cancelling a parking fine you get from G24. That said, you’d have to back up your appeal with evidence.

I’ve listed some reasons why you could contest a parking ticket on private land:

  • You parked correctly in accordance with the operator’s T&Cs
  • You have a genuine reason for not returning to your vehicle in time. For example, you couldn’t get back due to a medical emergency
  • The parking charge notice was served when you didn’t own the car
  • The road signs and signage in the car park were unclear
  • You got the parking fine in the post well over 14 days after the alleged parking infringement
  • The parking charge arrived in the mail, but there were no signs saying ANPR was in operation
  • The operator didn’t serve the parking fine correctly
  • You weren’t allowed a grace period

The operator should consider your appeal and inform you if they accept or reject it. Moreover, once G24 receives your appeal, all further action is halted until the operator decides.

Getting the support of a Solicitor can take a huge weight off your mind.

What happens when G24 rejects an appeal against a parking fine?

G24 sends you a letter of rejection which should contain essential information on what to do next.

You have two options if G24 rejects your appeal against the parking fine. First, you could pay the fine and be done with it. Or you could escalate your appeal to POPLA, the Parking on Private Land Appeals service.

POPLA will consider your appeal and let you know if it’s upheld or rejected. However, it’s worth noting that the POPLA’s decision is final!

How do you contact g24?

You can get in touch with g24 in several ways, which I’ve listed below:

  • By calling the operator on 0370 0427215
  • Emailing g24 at [email protected]
  • Filling out the online contact form
