It might seem scary, but don’t worry. In this article, we’ll help you understand:

  •  What a Dart Charge PCN is, and the reasons you might get one

We know it can be a tough time when you get a PCN. We’re here to help you understand your options and make a choice that’s right for you.

Do You Have to Pay?

In some circumstances, you might have a legitimate reason not to pay your fine.

It’s a bit sneaky, but the last time I needed legal advice, I paid £5 for a trial to chat with an online solicitor called JustAnswer.

Not only did I save £50 on solicitor feeds, I also won my case and didn’t have to pay my £271 fine.

What is a Dart penalty charge notice (PCN)?

You’d get a Dart Charge PCN because you either didn’t pay or you forgot to pay. Anyone who uses the Dartford Tunnel has to pay a toll, although there are some exemptions to paying.

You can drive through the tunnel without having to pay between 10pm to 6am seven days a week.

Dart Tunnel toll booths were scrapped because they created bottlenecks. The change resulted in more penalty charges being issued to motorists than ever before. It’s because more motorists forget to pay the charge on time!

In short, the new payment system resulted in more motorists being overcharged. To clarify, motorists find they are charged twice when they only make one crossing.

How do you confirm a Dart Charge payment?

Many motorists find that although they paid the correct amount on time, they got a Dart Charge PCN a little while later.

Because of the chaos and incorrect issuing of penalty charges, a Confirm Payment system now exists. To avoid mix-ups, you should confirm you made the right payment on time.

You’ve got proof that you paid to use the tunnel just in case you get a PCN in error!

All you have to do is keep hold of the reference number on your ticket. Next, click on the Confirm Payment link to determine if your payment went through.
